What each metric means
The Wellbeinn Balance measures these metrics using bioimpedance, sending a very weak electrical current through the body. The scale calculates your composition from the resistance it meets.
- Body fat
- The share of your weight that is fat tissue. It includes the fat your body needs and the fat it stores as a reserve.
- Muscle mass
- The weight of your muscles, including the water they hold. It helps you see whether the weight that changes is fat or muscle.
- Body water
- The share of your weight that is water. It varies through the day with what you drink, eat and sweat.
- Bone mass
- An estimate of the weight of the mineral in your bones. It usually changes very little over time.
- Basal metabolic rate
- The energy, in kilocalories, your body uses at rest to keep basic functions going, such as breathing or regulating temperature.
- Metabolic age
- Compares your basal metabolic rate with the average for different ages. It is a rough guide, not your real age.
