The same lens.A frame you'll actually wear.

Maximum blocking in an acetate aviator, not a wraparound mask.

The Nocturne carries the same red lens as the BlackOut: it blocks over 99% of blue light (400–500 nm) and over 95% of green (500–560 nm), the spectrum that interrupts melatonin production.

The difference is the frame. Double-bridge acetate, no foam and no seal: what it gives up in side-light blocking, it gains in being wearable at the table, on the sofa or outside the house without looking like technical equipment.

The last hour of work

You're finishing the day on your laptop and it's already late. You put the filter on and carry on: it blocks over 99% of blue light and over 95% of green with nothing to switch off.

Dinner and afters

An acetate frame you can wear at the table, with company, without looking like technical equipment. That's what comes from having no foam and no wraparound seal.

Because red gets through. You switch nothing off, you don't move rooms, you don't stop what you were doing. You just stop telling your body it's still daytime.

You turn off the light
and your body doesn't follow.

Three hours on your phone

You look up, switch everything off and go to bed. But your body still thinks it's afternoon, because for those three hours it got the same blue light it gets at noon.

Dimming the screen isn't enough

What fools the body clock isn't brightness, it's wavelength. And it sits between 400 and 560 nm: blue and green. The Nocturne lens blocks over 99% of the first and over 95% of the second.

You can still see everything

Because red gets through. You switch nothing off, you don't move rooms, you don't stop what you were doing. You just stop telling your body it's still daytime.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the Nocturne.

The lens is the same: both block over 99% of blue and over 95% of green. What changes is the frame. The BlackOut is a wraparound with foam around the whole perimeter, so it also blocks light coming in from the sides. The Nocturne is an acetate aviator with no foam: some side light gets through, but it's a frame you can wear in front of other people.

Because you'll actually wear it. If you only put it on alone on the sofa before bed, the BlackOut seals better. If you want to finish work, have dinner, stay talking or leave the house with the filter on, this is the one that doesn't look like technical equipment.

No. Blocking over 99% of blue and over 95% of green means much less light reaches the eye and colours can't be told apart as usual. They must not be worn while driving, day or night, or during any activity that requires distinguishing colours or light signals.

Acetate is the classic material for quality frames: stiffer than injected plastic and repairable by any optician. It has the same double metal rim on the temples you can see in the photos. It's covered by our warranty against any manufacturing defect or material fatigue.

It's a double-bridge aviator frame in a conventional adult size. It isn't a fit-over model: if you wear prescription glasses, ask your optician about applying a red filter to your own lenses.

From 1 to 2 hours before bed. You don't have to switch anything off or move rooms: you put the filter on and carry on with what you were doing.
