Summer arrives, you look in the mirror, and there it is. No matter how much you take care of yourself or how many creams you use, orange peel skin doesn’t go away. Plus, your legs feel heavy at the end of the day and you have that feeling that no matter how much you train, your skin’s appearance doesn’t improve. The problem is that you’ve been misinformed about what cellulite really is.

The aesthetic industry often sells superficial solutions, but to treat cellulite and orange peel skin, you have to go to the root. That’s why, in this video from Wellbeinn University, Caetano explains what cellulite is and how you can relieve it at home using technology that was previously only available in professional clinics, like pressotherapy.

1. What is cellulite really?

Associating cellulite with being "overweight" is the first mistake. It happens to 90% of women, even if they are at their ideal weight. The problem isn’t fat; it’s an alteration of your connective tissue and circulation.

The fluid stagnates, the area becomes inflamed, and the tissue stiffens, creating that orange peel skin. Since it’s not a calorie problem, eating less won’t fix it. You either force your body to move that trapped fluid so new oxygen reaches the skin, or the problem won’t be solved.

Your symptom What is happening How pressotherapy helps
Heavy and cold legs Poor circulation and fluid stagnation. Mechanically pushes venous and lymphatic return.
Dimples (Orange peel skin) The tissue is stiff and inflamed due to retention. Softens the tissue by mobilizing accumulated edema.
Pain to the touch Nerve compression due to inflammation. Reduces pressure in the area by draining excess fluid.
Lack of skin firmness Poor oxygenation of skin cells. Increases blood flow, nourishing the tissue from within.

2. Why legs get so tired every day

As Caetano explains in the video, there are factors you can't control, like genetics or the role of estrogens, which promote fluid and fat retention in specific areas. But there is a lot that is within your control.

A sedentary lifestyle is the best friend of orange peel skin. Spending many hours sitting or standing “collapses” your lymphatic system. The solution rests on three pillars: eating well, strength training to tone muscles, and most importantly, regularly doing lymphatic drainage to force those trapped fluids to move and avoid blocking your circulation.

3. How pressotherapy improves your skin

Pressotherapy works because it doesn’t stay on the skin’s surface. The machine applies controlled pressure that “squeezes your legs” gently from the foot upward, forcing stagnant lymphatic fluid to move.

By eliminating that excess fluid (edema), pressure on the tissue decreases. Your skin looks smoother immediately because we’re “deflating” the cells from within. Also, by improving blood flow, you naturally stimulate collagen production.

4. Why you need pressotherapy pants

This is where most people fail. If you use pressotherapy boots that only reach the quadriceps, you’re moving the fluid but leaving it “trapped” right where cellulite usually appears most: on the saddlebags and buttocks.

To truly drain that area, the compression has to reach the abdomen. That’s why the Highfly Pro are full-length pants. Covering from the tip of the foot to the lower back, we force all that edema to move directly to the groin lymph nodes, where your body actually filters and eliminates it.

💡 The protocol for treating cellulite at home:

  • 1 Frequency: 3 to 5 sessions per week. Consistency is what changes the texture of your skin.
  • 2 Gentle pressure: Pressing harder won’t drain better. Caetano recommends low pressures (between 80-85 mmHg) to avoid collapsing the lymphatic capillaries.
  • 3 Duration: From 30 to 45 minutes. You lie down, put on the pants, and let the compression sweep from your feet up to your abdomen.
  • 4 Hydration: Drink water after the session. You’ll help your kidneys filter all the fluid we just mobilized.

"There are no miracles here. Either you move that stuck fluid to reduce inflammation, or the orange peel skin won’t go away. It’s that simple."

5. Frequently asked questions about cellulite and pressotherapy

1. Does it really help with cellulite?
Yes. Pressotherapy helps reduce tissue inflammation and push stuck fluid. If you add some strength exercise and a good diet to that drainage, you’ll see your legs improve.
2. When will I start seeing results on my skin?
You’ll feel relief from heaviness in the first session, right after taking off the pants. But to change the texture of orange peel skin, you need consistency. Use it for about 4 weeks, 3 to 5 days a week, to see a visual change in the mirror.
3. Do I have to use maximum pressure for it to work?
No. For lymphatic drainage and cellulite, medium-low pressures are ideal. We want to gently mobilize the fluid, not “squeeze” the muscle. For cellulite, you need gentle pressures (around 80-85 mmHg).
4. Is it compatible with lipedema treatment?
One hundred percent. In fact, applying mechanical pressure is key for this problem. It will help you a lot to move that accumulated edema and, above all, to stop your legs from hurting due to inflammation.
5. Can it be used if I have varicose veins?
On the contrary, it’s good for you. Since the machine pushes the blood upward, it prevents it from stagnating and the varicose veins from worsening. That said, if your veins are very swollen or painful, talk to your doctor to feel safe before using it.

Stop fighting against your skin

Improving the appearance of your legs doesn’t depend on a magic formula, but on understanding how your lymphatic system works. In the end, cellulite is warning you that your body isn’t draining properly on its own. Either you give it a hand pushing those fluids, or the heaviness won’t go away.
