In this article, our CEO, Miguel Ortín, analyzes a recently published article about pressotherapy and its benefits from the first use. It’s a must-read to understand how to use your equipment correctly.

Next, we leave you with Miguel’s reflection and analysis.

Repeat after me: "I will NOT use ONLY high pressure"

This is something I emphasize a lot to all athletes and centers where we provide training on the use of Wellbeinn devices: "I will NOT use my pressotherapy ONLY at 200mmHg."

Why? It’s clear that everyone loves the boot squeezing tightly; feeling that relaxation and muscle massage at high pressures is a "TOP" sensation. But... let’s not forget that the main circulatory and vascular benefits come at low pressures, below 100mmHg.

What science says: Arterial stiffness

The analyzed study discusses arterial stiffness (a risk factor for heart disease) after a single 30-minute session at moderate pressures (70/80 mmHg). These were the findings:

1 Reduction of arterial stiffness: A significant reduction in pulse wave velocity was observed, which is a key marker for measuring arterial stiffness.

2 The control group did not improve: The sham group (wearing sleeves but without active compression) showed no significant changes, confirming that it is the pressure that generates the benefit.

3 Effect on the nervous system: Indirect markers of sympathetic nervous system activity also decreased after treatment, helping to explain the overall relaxation effects observed.

Why is this relevant to you?

The interesting thing is that these effects have been observed in the short term (after just one session). This means that the correct use of the device helps with:

  • Lower blood pressure and reduced cardiovascular risk.
  • Improved blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues.
  • Greater cardiac efficiency and better tolerance to physical exercise.

“Sometimes common sense and reasoning lead us to conclusions that are later supported by science. More long-term studies will be needed, but we will be watching closely.”
